Cement Bonded Particle Board

Cement Bonded Particle Board (CBPB) is manufactured mainly from the familiar and proven raw materials - Cement and Wood Particles - to which a very small quantity of additives is added to 'mineralize' the wood particles.

The mineralization process enables the wood particles to resist biological attack, erosion and decay. It is, in effect, a transformation of an organic material into a state where it is resistant to the otherwise destructive influences of moisture, rot, vermin, fungi, fire, insects, chemicals, weathering, etc.

In summary the principal attributes of CBPB are:

CBPB is suitable for exterior and interior use; it is asbestos free; it contains no hazardous volatiles and its process dust is regarded as non-aggressive.

CBPB Applications

CBPB is a versatile building material. Since its introduction in the late 1960's, it has been successfully used in a variety of climatic conditions where its unique characteristics make it an ideal building material for a variety of exterior and interior applications.

CBPB's outstanding weather resistant properties make it particularly suitable as an external building material.

Typical applications are:

Standard dimensions and density of CBPB

Length 2400 up to 3600 mm / 8' - 12'
Width 1200 / 1250 mm / 4'
Thickness 4 - 40 mm
Density ca. 1250 kg/m3
Modulus of Rupture >9 N/mm2 (CEN Norm)

Other dimensions and densities are possible as well.

Production of CBPB

Standard production capacities are based on 120, 150 en 200 m³/day, based on 3-shift production. Optionally the CBPB plant can be expanded to also include the production of EltoBoard in a so called combined CBPB-EltoBoard plant.

Although our engineering team has been involved in several (turn-key) CBPB Plants and or upgrading of existing CBPB Plants, Eltomation no longer offers such turn-key CBPB Plants. Modernisation of existing CBPB Plants is still part of our scope of supply. In view of product flexibility and advanced board properties, we offer the new (WWCB)/EltoBoard Plant as a more economic and technically better and more versatile alternative to the CBPB technology.
